The fourth in the franchise, The Bourne Legacy, will this time not star Matt Damon. Instead, Jeremy Renner will step into Damon's shoes for the film that resumes directly after the last in the series – The Bourne Ultimatum.
Also joining Renner are newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac. Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.
Directed by Tony Gilroy, the story revolves around Renner's character whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.
The Bourne franchise has been huge for Universal, netting almost $1 billion globally since the first film was released in 2002.
The Bourne Legacy will be released in Australia on August 16, 2012.
