Two Fists weak as Beast builds

By Simon de Bruyn

Disney-distributed boxing drama Two Fists One Heart has opened poorly on 50 screens, while Love the Beast has continued its strong run at the box office.

Following preview screenings last weekend, the $8.5 million boxing drama took a mere $97,000 over the weekend, for a total of $127,000.

Meanwhile, Eric Bana’s Love the Beast has continued to post strong results in its second weekend, after Madman raised the screen count to 65. The car documentary took a further $141,283 for a total of $498,000.

This makes it the third highest grossing (non IMAX) Australian doco ever at the local box office, behind Bra Boys ($1.7 million) and Cane Toads: An Unnatural History ($613,000).

David Field’s drama The Combination still has legs, taking a further $42,600 on 25 screens over the weekend, for a total of $618,000.

Paul Cox’s long-delayed film Salvation took $2,262 on three screens for a total of $2,800, while Beautiful has stopped screening after reaching a total of $45,891.

Baz Luhrmann’s juggernaut Australia is also still edging along, taking $14,834 in its 17th weekend in cinemas, for a total of $37,232,340.
