Village Cinemas to open kids concept cinema Vjunior

Village Cinemas Southland will introduce a kids concept cinema from December 1, in partnership with Mattel’s Hot Wheels.

Vjunior, specifically designed for children aged 3 to 10 years, will combine movies with play: there will be a slide inside the cinema itself, as well custom bean bags and lounges.

Guests will also be invited to arrive up to an hour before their session to enjoy an interactive play area, including blockwalls, light projection games and Hot Wheels activity tables. Children’s artwork is able to be projected onto the big screen through custom-built scan technology.

The cinema will also boast ‘child friendly’ modified volumes and lighting levels, a shorter pre-show, and an intermission allowing for additional socialising, snack and bathroom breaks.

General manager of sales and marketing Mohit Bhargava said the concept is designed to appeal to patrons who are looking for a more relaxed and fun environment without a formal cinema structure.

“Vjunior is a first in Australian cinema. The intent is to create a space for parents and children alike to enjoy the magic of movies in a tailored environment.”
