WETOO launches the first crowd funding platform for students

WETOO is a crowd funding platform dedicated to students. It is the first of its kind and enables students to launch campaigns in which they raise money by leveraging from their social network. It turns Facebook friends and family members into a real asset.

Crowd funding is not a recent concept and has been used for years to help charities' projects. However, the booming social media platforms of the likes of Facebook and Twitter have made the concept much more relevant and powerful. It became popular to finance artistic projects and start-ups growth by asking the mainstream population to give a hand, especially in the USA. Thousands of people responded to campaigns launched by artists to raise money for their next tour or new album. And in the same vein, a large number of small investors backed new ventures that wouldn’t have been financed otherwise.

WETOO aims at capitalizing on this success and at democratizing crowd funding down under. Students, all around Australia, will have access to a platform on which they will be able to share their needs and wishes. The campaigns they start will be shown to their friends on social media websites and sent to their vast network.

Anyone can comment, enhance the project and contribute. The students will take the funds at the end of the campaign and give feedback to the donors and all those interested.

CEO of WETOO, Faycal Fassi-Fihri, commented, “WETOO will allow students to live their dreams. Whether that be raising funds to support a humanitarian effort, obtain a present they can truly benefit from or their next travel adventure, WETOO provides a fun and engaging platform to enable this”.

WETOO partners and investors include Weowe Inc. (USA) and ATP Innovations, the leading Australian business incubator.
