50 Songs Camp to Create Soundtrack for New Film

Now in its second year, the APRA/AMCOS sponsored 50 Songs Camp has established a partnership with an upcoming film written and directed by Nick Pollack, in order to create three original songs for the film's soundtrack.

The film, entitled 'Any Girl Who Loves The Beatles is Bound to Break Your Heart,' is about a travel writer, Grant, and a traveling musician, Nina. Grant misses a flight out of Sydney after meeting Nina at the airport and sharing a bottle of stolen vodka with her. In an interesting turn of events, Grant winds up being responsible for chaperoning Nina around Sydney. After some initial hostility between the two, they begin bonding over their shared ideas about music, writing, the future and home, as they wander around Sydney together.

With the goal of creating three original songs for its soundtrack, the film has partnered with the 50 Songs Camp, which is taking place at 301 Studios in Alexandria next week.

The songwriting camp is by invitation only and sees the best in the music business come together to write 50 songs over the course of five days. Giving local songwriters and artists the chance to work with some of the best producers and songwriters from around Austraia, as well as some international writers, the camp is all about the Australian music industry bonding over five intensive days of songwriting.

Some of the attendees at this year's camp will include Lisa Mitchell, Clare Bowditch, Julian Hamilton (The Presets), Jake Stone (Bluejuice), Jessica Mauboy, Rai Thistlethwaite, The Veronicas, and many more.
