ABC cancels ‘Good Game’

Good Game.
The ABC has cancelled its video gaming series Good Game after 10 years on screens.
According to a statement published via Good Game’s social media, the decision comes after “two key presenters” decided to pursue other opportunities, later clarified as Stephanie “Hex” Bendixsen and Nich “Nichboy” Richardson.
“In light of this major setback, and changes in the way audiences are choosing to get their information about gaming, the ABC has decided to end the long and successful run of the show,” said the statement.
“The ABC would like to acknowledge the wonderful work of Janet Carr and all of the Good Gamers. Any show that makes it to a 10th birthday is something to be proud of. Good Game pioneered video game TV. Its commitment and innovation has been repeatedly and appropriately awarded. The show has had a tremendous run and plenty of adventures, none of which would have happened without of you, the GG community.”
The ABC said the Good Game team are expected to be retained, while the show’s children’s spin-off, Spawn Point, which airs on ABC ME, will continue in a new format.
The news of the show’s axing was met with furore on social media, with fans adopting the hashtag #putoutyourcontrollers.
