Press release from F4
The First Factual Films Festival (F4) is a key free event within the annual Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) and in 2012 is being co-presented with the Adelaide Festival of Arts during the opening weekend of the Festival.
F4 festival program includes documentaries from International Master Filmmakers and the works of Australia’s best emerging documentary talents. F4 films provide a unique window into worlds, cultures and places, celebrating the authors of the screen and their unique points of view. Filmmakers attend each screening and give a post-show Q&A. All screenings have free admission and are open to the general public. In previous years the F4 MASTERS included Gillian Armstrong ( LOVE, LUST AND LIES), Academy Award Nominee Bob Connolly (MRS CAREY’S CONCERT), and from the USA, Academy Award Winner Pamela Yates (GRANITO) and Academy Award Nominee Steve James (THE INTERRUPTERS).
The First Factual Films Festival (F4) is an unrivalled professional development opportunity for emerging Australian documentary makers and one of the four new filmmakers will win the F4 AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING NEW DOCUMENTARY TALENT by a jury of international documentary professionals.
Joost den Hartog, Director of AIDC said, “AIDC is delighted to be presenting F4 in association with the 2012 Adelaide Festival of Arts. What a time to get immersed in the world of documentary. The world’s most influential documentary professionals will land on Adelaide during the Adelaide Festival of Arts, and this will enhance Adelaide’s creative atmosphere.”
Paul Grabowsky, Artistic Director, 2012 Adelaide Festival said, "It is very exciting to have F4 as part of the Adelaide Festival 2012 program. It's great that such an exceptional professional development opportunity and program for Australia’s emerging documentary film makers is part of our Festival."
AIDC is renowned as the number one event in the Asia-Pacific region for anyone involved in making documentaries, and annually attracts over 600 documentary directors, producers, buyers and sellers from around the world. The next AIDC will be held in late February immediately prior to the 2012 Adelaide Festival of Arts.
The full F4 program will be announced early February 2012.
