This July, Anna Broinowski (Please Explain, Aim High in Creation, Forbidden Lie$) and Ana Kokkinos (Head On, Seven Types of Ambigiuity, Pulse) will run a directing intensive for 12 early career directors working in regional NSW, regional Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT on behalf of Screenworks.

To be held at Linnaeus Estate in Byron Bay, the two day event will involve presentations, workshop sessions, screenings and discussions, with Broinowski and Kokkinos to explain their directing techniques, share advice on best practice and give guidance on individual projects. Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) CEO Kingston Anderson will also provide advice about career development for each selected director.

The event is being run in partnership with the ADG, Create NSW, and the Linneaus Estate Education Fund, with support from Screen Queensland, Screen Canberra and Screen Tasmania.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for early career screen directors living in regional Australia to connect with two of our industry greats,” said Screenworks CEO Ken Crouch.

“The limited number of participants makes it easier to ask questions, get feedback and build personal connections with the guest presenters. If you live in regional Australia and you’re working toward a career as film or TV director, you should be applying for this opportunity.”

The workshop will run July 7 and 8.  For guidelines and to apply, visit here. The deadline for applications is June 12.
