Angus Sampson to host IF Awards

By Sam Dallas

Australian actor Angus Sampson will host this year’s IF Awards.

The Spirited star, who also appears in Summer Coda – released yesterday – will follow in the footsteps of such personalities as Joel Edgerton, Julia Zemiro and John Safran who have been among the hosts over the past 12 years.

“Angus has presented at the Inside Film Awards in the past and I always liked his warmth, humour and charisma,” IF Awards general manager Clare Sawyer said in a statement.

“To me he reflects the values of the IF Awards – independence, irreverence and he is uniquely Australian.

“He has an awesome combination of talents that audiences have already seen displayed in local films, US features and on the small screen with his improvised comedy.”

The Kokoda and Where The Wild Things Are actor said he was attracted to three things about hosting.

“A: the chance to give something back to the film industry; B: the gorgeous women; [and] C: the chance to give something back to the gorgeous women in the industry,” Sampson said in a statement.

“I am very much looking forward to frolicking through the IF Awards…I may even wear clothes.”

The IF Awards will be held on Sunday, November 14 at City Recital Hall, Angel Place, Sydney.

The ceremony will be broadcast on SBS on November 24 and Showtime at a later date.

The awards are open to the general public; tickets are onsale now at www.cityrecitalhall.com and are for over 18 years only.
