Arrowhead snapped up for US and Canadian release

Vertical Releasing and Mongrel Media have acquired Jesse O’Brien’s Arrowhead for the US and Canadian markets respectively out of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Odin’s Eye Entertainment’s CEO Michael Favelle closed the US deal with Vertical Releasing Acquisitions Executive Peter Jarowey and the Canadian deal with Mongrel Media’s Home Entertainment Manager Neil Morrison.

Vertical will execute a limited theatrical release stateside in the coming months, while Mongrel will drop Arrowhead theatrically and on VOD.

An interstellar Jekyll & Hyde, Arrowhead tells a tale of survival amongst the distant stars. Kye (Dan Mor) is a prisoner-of-war caught between two armies, neither of whose ideology he believes in. When offered an opportunity for freedom, Kye sets out on one last rescue mission, only to become stranded when his ship crash-lands.

Arrowhead was the winner of the Australian Writers Guild's 2015 John Hinde Award for Excellence in Science Fiction writing.

"I am thrilled with the quality of partners we have secured for this exceptional indie and I am 100% positive Jesse will go onto a huge career as a highly acclaimed director”, said Favelle.

Further deals have also been inked at TIFF to Korea’s Activers Entertainment and Italy’s One Film Entertainment by Odin’s Eye’s SVP International Distribution Martin Gallery.

Arrowhead was distributed in Australia by StudioCanal. The film has also been previously sold to China (Lemon Tree) Germany (Capelight), UK (Metrodome/ 101 Films), Japan (New Select), Middle East (Phoenicia) and France (Condor).
