Press release from Tsuki

On Tuesday 21 September, the Factory Theatre – birthplace of live entertainment in Sydney, will set the stage to unearth the freshest faces in filmmaking, with the hugely anticipated ‘Screening and Awards Night’ of Australia's 1st Mobile Screenfest.

The nine winners, handpicked from over 550 entries by a judging panel including stars from Underbelly, Packed to the Rafter’s, Home and Away and the Australian Wallabies teams will have their films showcased alongside their international counterparts and winners from other highly acclaimed global mobile phone film festivals.

Hosted by Amelia Jane Hunter, winner of Melbourne International Comedy Festival Awards, the festival will take audiences through some of the best Australian videos and photos captured on mobile phones. Be it high speed chases across the city, comedic sketches, thrillers or highly emotional dramas – all will be on show at Mobile Screenfest.

Festival attendees will get to watch shortlisted videos and photos from nine categories that include Best Comedy, Best Sports Video (world first) and Best Drama – all vying for over $12,000 in cash and prizes.

Cheer the loudest for your favourite video to ensure it wins the grand prize of the evening – the People’s Choice Award.

Judges for this year’s festival include:
– Wallabies and Queensland Reds rugby star Quade Cooper
– Head of leading talent agency Mark Morrissey
– Underbelly star Dieter Brummer
– Packed to the Rafter’s star Diarmid Heidenreich
– Logie Award nominated film and TV star Victoria Thaine
