Australia’s Kate Jenkinson Confirmed for Rebel Wilson’s ‘Super Fun Night’

In what marks an impressive international debut role, Australian actress Kate Jenkinson has been confirmed for Rebel Wilson’s highly anticipated half hour prime-time US comedy series Super Fun Night where she will play Felicity Vanderstone, ‘Lady Lawyer of the Year’ and idol of Rebel’s character Kimmie.

Super Fun Night marks the third collaboration between Kate and Rebel who have showcased their comic talents together previously in the Australian comedy series The Wedge, and in Rebel’s own show Bogan Pride.

Jenkinson is currently on screen in two leading Australian drama series,her fourth season of Offspring on Ten as Kate Reid, and in the acclaimed ABC
drama Time of Our Lives as comedy club owner Eloise.

Kate’s other recent roles include Killing Time, the hard-hitting TV1 series based on true events in which she starred opposite David Wenham as Wendy Peirce, the critically acclaimed Showtime drama series Tangle and Satisfaction, AACTA award winning comedy series Lowdown and drama The Straits both as a series regular.

During this time, Kate also had guest roles in Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on the ABC,the AFI Best Comedy Series Wilfred on SBS, and in the AFI Best Drama Series Rush on Network Ten. In 2012 she had a semi regular role on the Nine network in House Husbands which won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Drama Series. She also appeared as herself on Adam Zwar’s Agony Aunts, winner ofthe 2013 AACTA Award for Best Light Entertainment Television Series.

Super Fun Night marks a further achievement for Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson, who is the writer, star and co-Executive producer of the series,which also boasts aleading production team. Executive produced by Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, and director John Riggi (30 Rock), Super Fun Night is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Conaco and Warner Bros. Television and is set to premiere in the US October 2 on ABC, in the prime time post-Modern Family Wednesday night slot.

The series is based around junior attorney Kimmie Boubier (Rebel Wilson) and her two best friends Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira, Don’t Trust the B—in Apt. 23) and Marika (Lauren Ash, Lars and the Real Girl) who have had a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years. They even have a motto for what they call “Friday Night Fun Night”: “Always together! Always Inside!” However, Kimmie’s recent promotion throws a monkey wrench into the tradition. Not only is she now working with her idol, “Lady Lawyer of the Year” Felicity Vanderstone (Kate Jenkinson), but she meets a dashingly handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (British comedian Kevin Bishop), who invites her tohis party at a trendy club. Determined to spend time with Richard and heed Felicity’s advice to network, Kimmie sets out to convince her friends to take Super Fun Night on the road. Kate will head to the US shortly to begin filming.
