Call for entries for SPA awards

Entries are now open for the 15th Screen Producers Australia Awards which include a new category for short film production.

The awards will be presented  on November 19 at Crown Palladium Melbourne during the 30th Screen Forever conference.

The new short film award  complements the established categories that acknowledge excellence in feature film, feature film documentary, interactive (including games) and television, encompassing reality, light entertainment, telemovie or mini-series, children’s television, comedy and documentary television.

SPA CEO Matt Deaner said, "The Screen Producers Australia Awards now enter their 15th year and are seen as a primary litmus test of industry excellence. They are the only awards voted by production businesses working in the industry, recognizing the entirety of the production as opposed to one specific area of specialisation.

“It’s been an incredible year for screen production in Australia with stand out productions that have resonated with audiences both here and overseas.”

Deaner added, “The addition of the short film production category provides a platform for our emerging and mid career producers and sits alongside our other initiatives to support Australia’s creative talent including our Ones To Watch mentoring program and new business classes in development.”

Entries close on Friday  August 7. Further details on the category criteria, eligibility and the judging and voting process can be found at
