Darcy-Smith lands US revenge-thriller

Kieran Darcy-Smith is set to direct a US revenge action thriller, his first film since his 2012 debut Wish You Were Here.

By Way of Helena will star Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson, according to Deadline.com., which said shooting will start in September.

Hemsworth will play a Texas Ranger in the 1880s who is sent to the isolated frontier town of Helena after multiple corpses are found in a river. Harrelson is cast as the local preacher who exerts a fearful influence on the residents.

The script by Matt Cook featured among the top 10 screenplays in the 2009 Black List. The producers are David Hoberman and Nathalie Marciano.

Hemsworth and Harrelson will next be seen on screen in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, which opens in November.

Darcy-Smith and his wife, actor-writer Felicity Price moved to LA to further their careers after Wish You Were Here. Last month Warner Bros. and producer Jon Peters announced he will direct Blackwater, based on the  true story of Blackwater Worldwide, a security firm that was notoriously involved in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He is also attached to direct Memorial Day, a 1980s-set crime drama about Hispanic brothers who struggle to cope with the fall-out from a family tragedy, for Aquarius  Films' Angie Fielder and US producer Ted Hope.
