Denise Eriksen appointed Manager, Commissioned Content at SBS

Seasoned television producer Denise Eriksen has been appointed Manager, Commissioned Content at SBS.

Denise has more than 30 years experience in content production as a journalist, producer, executive producer and commissioner for both public and commercial broadcasters in Australia and overseas.

She was most recently the Head of Factual at the ABC and is already working with SBS as the Executive Producer of Top Gear Australia.

‘Denise has a wealth of experience in content creation in productions as diverse as the highly successful The Games series through to current affairs, factual series and documentary,’ SBS Director of Content, Matt Campbell said.

‘Her work with community, public and commercial broadcasters both in Australia and overseas ensures she has the varied experience necessary to bring new and diverse content to SBS television screens.

‘Denise joins SBS at a time when we are showing more Australian content that reflects the true, multicultural Australia than ever before and enjoying record ratings as a result. Who Do You Think You Are?, East West 101 and The Circuit are sitting alongside our quality documentary slate and delivering Australian audiences distinctive local content.’

Denise Eriksen said she was excited to join SBS at what is a challenging time for public broadcasters around the world.

‘Audiences are becoming increasingly sophisticated and discerning – they want relevant content on demand, wherever they are. In Australia, audiences are saying loud and clear that they want their stories shown. They’re proud of their identity and want to see it reflected on their screens.

‘So, to join SBS and to help deliver content that provides unique insights into Australian culture and to give life and voice to stories that won’t be told by other broadcasters is both immensely exciting and challenging.’

Denise will commence with SBS on Tuesday January 28, 2008.
