Emerging producers offered fest grants

[press release from Screen Australia]

Screen Australia is offering Travel Grants for producers to attend two markets in 2009 – the European Film Market (EFM) and the 10th Annual Kidscreen Summit, the largest event for children’s entertainment executives.

The EFM is held in conjunction with the 59th Berlin International Film Festival and will run 5-15 February 2009. In 2008, more than 6400 industry professionals from 80 countries participated. Screen Australia is offering two types of grants for attendance at this year’s EFM:

*Type B – for market-experienced producers and
*Type C – for producers developing market experience.

To be eligible to apply, producers must have previous producer credits and at least one feature film in development at a market-ready stage. Producers can apply for up to $5000 towards their travel expenses.

The Kidscreen Summit will be held 11-13 February 2009 in New York. It broke attendance records in 2008, attracting more than 1500 delegates from 43 countries. Children’s entertainment executives attend to engage in critical dialogue on issues that affect the industry; understand current market needs, opportunities and challenges; learn more about key innovators and their vision; and find and share ideas that will drive their businesses forward.

Screen Australia is offering Type B Travel Grants only for attendance at the 2009 Kidscreen Summit. Producers can apply for up to $5000 towards their travel expenses.

The Marketing Travel Grant Guidelines and application form, outlining all eligibility criteria are available to download from the Screen Australia website.

The deadline for applications to both EFM and Kidscreen is 5pm Monday 1 December 2008.

All applications must be discussed in the first instance with Screen Australia’s Marketing Information Officer, Nicole Powell, on 02 8113 5835 or email festivals@screenaustralia.gov.au
