2022 AACTA Awards: Submissions

Entries are now open across Film, Television, Documentary, and Short Film categories for the 2022 AACTA Awards. The awards comprise more than 50 different award categories across film, television, documentary, and short film, celebrating Australian stories, culture, and creativity on the big and small screens. The 2022 AACTA Awards includes a change to the feature film eligibility policy, which has been updated to recognise films that premiere on streaming, subscription, or free to air television, with no theatrical distribution. Port Adelaide Diversity and Inclusion Festival – Submissions

The Port Adelaide Diversity Inclusion Film Festival recognises and showcases films and screenplays that represent cultural diversity, the underrepresented and minority in communities. Impact Australia – Submissions

Screenwriter accelerator program Impact Australia will return to Melbourne for its third year. The Australian edition of the intensive eight-week program will be delivered by international entertainment start-up Impact and Melbourne-based production company Gentle Giant Media Group, and designed to discover, cultivate and empower diverse Australian screenwriters, with the goal of accelerating projects to be pitch-ready for global buyers and producers. Submissions are open for this year's Australian Directors' Guild (ADG) Awards, with prizes to be handed down across 20 categories. In some notable changes, a new award will be presented for Best Direction in a Debut Feature Film. A Wave in the Ocean

Academy Award winning director Jane Campion has announced a new project, A Wave in the Ocean, a popup intensive course for New Zealand’s emerging film directing talent. The independent Wellington-based programme, which is aimed at participants with significant film or allied creative experience, runs over 12 months from November 2022.  Structured around a series of laboratories, the intensive will give participants the space to take risks and explore what makes them truly unique as storytellers on screen within a supportive cohort. They will also receive a stipend to attend and have the opportunity to make a fully funded short film in 2023.

Regionality Pitch

As part of Regionality Cairns, AIDC, Screen Queensland and Screenworks are calling for regional Queensland-based project teams to apply for the Regionality Pitch. Up to four teams will be selected for international training, mentorship, and trailer editing, before their project is pitched to key local and international buyers, commissioners and funders. Post-pitch meetings between interested decision makers and pitching teams will also be facilitated by AIDC.

Every Voice

Screen Australia, NZ On Air and TikTok's Every Voice initiative is returning, with applications now open. Now in its second year, Every Voice is an initiative to support creatives with diverse and distinct voices to develop episodic scripted or factual content exclusively for TikTok. Australian and New Zealand applicants will be eligible to apply for up to $75,000 per project, with up to ten successful projects set to receive funding.
