Exclusive: New show to launch

A new TV drama is set to make it onto Australian and international TV screens.

Sydney-based Core3 Entertainment has partnered with The Robert Evans Company in Hollywood to develop the drama series Hospitality, created by Marshall Dunn and Philippa Whitfield Pomeranz.

It's being described as “Miami Vice meets The O.C.

Legendary producer Robert Evans (The Godfather, Chinatown) is on board to executive produce along with his producing partner Henri M. Kessler, who brought Evans the project.

“Our aim is to take international audiences into a fast-paced world of money, madness, love and betrayal”, Pomeranz told INSIDEFILM exclusively from her Sydney Fox Studios office.

“The 13×1-hour drama series follows the rise of the heir to Sydney’s biggest hospitality empire – and his battle against an encroaching rival family from Melbourne.

"It's a world driven by powerful family dynasties with all the complexities of human drama and ego that comes with it."

Dunn, who penned the pilot and is represented by WSM, added: “These guys work hard but play harder. Sydney’s their playground”.

Evans said from Hollywood: "Hospitality's an industry that touches everyone at some point. When you’re at a bar or hotel, or at a fabulous nightclub, it’s easy to wonder how much cash is changing hands, what drama is exactly happening behind those closed office doors, and who is exactly winning…well, we’re going to show you.”

An Australian and American cast is being sorted, financing is underway and it’s currently being pitched to networks Down Under by Core3 Entertainment and in the US by The Robert Evans Company.
