Engineer, documentary creator and futurist Dr Jordan Nguyen will deliver the ‘visionary keynote’ address at Screen Producers Australia’s Screen Forever.

Dr Nguyen, who graduated with a a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney in 2012 after developing a mind-controlled smart wheelchair for people with high-level physical disabilities, studies the intersection between technology and humanity and how it can be applied to evolve our species.

He creates predictions while taking audiences on journeys to “experience the impossible,” according to SPA. His work involves biomedical technology, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, digital humans and more.

SPA says: “We will learn about how our rapidly changing world is impacting media, our lives and our connections with each other. How will we as humans thrive as we leap into a new future?”

Dr Nguyen will deliver the keynote entitled “Humanity, Technology and Conscious Media” on November 20 and on that day will take part in an ABC Q&A panel.

The inaugural visionary keynote was delivered last year by former Pixar CFO Lawrence Levy, who outlined his ideas on innovation and creativity as daily life practice.

SPA CEO Matt Deaner said: “It is a great thrill for Dr Nguyen to be joining us this year to provide his unique perspective of the transformative power of technology.”
