Press release from 6dc
Known for its fresh, contemporary and irreverent style, the Inside Film Awards is arguably one of Australia’s most anticipated events. It’s the time the stars of the big screen and for the first time ever, some new faces from the small screen, celebrate a year in Australian film as decided by Australian cinema goers. In 2010 the IF Awards don’t disappoint by moving to a CBD venue, with City Recital Hall Angel Place again proving that each year IF offers us something new, surprising and exciting.
Unique in design and location, City Recital Hall Angel Place has earned a place in Sydney's history. This world class performance space is the first specially designed concert venue to be built in Sydney since the Opera House in 1973.
This finely tuned venue with a capacity of over 1200 seats has been designed for quality of sound, to enhance enjoyment of audiences, soloists, chamber ensembles, indie bands, popular musicians and the spoken word. And IF Awards is delighted to bring their annual event to this contemporary space.
Following the ceremony on Sunday November 14, guests will walk down Ash Street to Ivy, where they will enter the lavish after party hosted by Jameson Irish Whisky in the venue’s master ballroom, the ivy Room. Beverages and canapes will be served as part of the ticket price with DJ music to entertain and guests can wander throughout the lobby and ballroom.
Attended in the past by stars like Sam Worthington, Baz Luhrmann, Toni Colette, Geoffrey Rush, Eric Bana and Nicole Kidman, the IF Awards offer a relaxed fun night where film industry insiders and fans come together to celebrate a great year in Australian film. Says film legend Barry Otto, “The IFs are more irreverent, fun and relaxed and it has been good to see something which started out small, new and groovy grow into something really special.”
What makes the IF Awards so special is that fans get a chance to step across the red carpet and celebrate with their favourite stars. Ticket holders for the 2010 Inside Film Awards will experience the awards ceremony first hand at the City Recital Hall Angel Place, Sydney, where they are seated amongst the who’s who of the entertainment industry for the 90 minute show.
They are then invited to celebrate alongside the winners at the after-party at ivy. Tickets for the 2010 IF Awards will go on sale in late September online at http://www.cityrecitalhall.com or register your interest by emailing ticketing@www.if.com.au.
