IRON MAN 2 took $1.81 million in its opening day at the Australian box office making it the biggest opening day of 2010, and the biggest ever opening day for a Marvel film.
In 2008 the first IRON MAN film was an overnight sensation when it took $1.16 million in its opening day, IRON MAN 2 has opened 56% ahead of the first films opening day total. IRON MAN went on to make $20 million at the Australian box office and more than $572 million world wide.
IRON MAN 2 is the highly anticipated sequel from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment to the 2008 box office smash hit IRON MAN, which reunites director Jon Favreau and Oscar® nominee Robert Downey Jr. Joining Downey is an all-star cast of heroes and villains, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
