Jon Casimir is joining Kevin Whyte’s Guesswork Television in the new role of managing director, based at the production company’s Surry Hills office.

Starting next February, the co-creator of Gruen and You Can’t Ask That will work alongside creative director Todd Abbott, head of production Frank Bruzzese and general manager Heather Pritchard.

Casimir previously was CEO of Legacy Media, in which he was partnered with Andrew Denton and has been shelved after producing two seasons of Andrew Denton’s Interview for the Seven Network.

Kevin Whyte, group MD of the Token Group, said: “We have worked with Jon in many guises for many years and admired his smarts, taste and faith in artists. I can’t imagine anyone better to take on this new role and spearhead this next phase at Guesswork.”

Casimir tells IF: “Andrew and I have gone our separate ways again, though we continue to text a lot about football. I’d never rule out working together again on something, but right now, no plans to do so.”

He added: “Guesswork is a nimble, flexible production house, well placed to thrive in the changing media environment. It’s a thrill to join a company with great people and a great track record. I sincerely hope I don’t break all the toys.”

Abbott tells IF the new role reflect the company’s growth, adding: “We are all excited about having permanent access to Jon’s extraordinary brain.”

Prior to Legacy Media Casimir spent three years as head of entertainment at ABC TV, where he commissioned a raft of programs including The Weekly, Luke Warm Sex, Hard Quiz, Dream Gardens, The House with Annabel Crabb, Growing Up Gracefully, Whovians, Glory, Sammy J’s Playground Politics, Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am and When TV Was Awesome.

Earlier he worked at Zapruder’s/CJZ on Enough Rope With Andrew Denton, Hungry Beast, Randling, Elders, The Joy Of Sets, Can Of Worms and Reality Check.

Guesswork Television’s credits include Rosehaven, Get Krack!n, Nanette, Please Like Me, Frayed, Hard Quiz and The Weekly and 10 stand-up comedy specials for Amazon Prime Video.
