eOne’s EVP acquisitions and TV development Jude Troy will depart the company at the end of the month to launch her own shingle, Wooden Horse.
Under the new venture, Troy will oversee a slate that she helped to develop while at eOne. It includes Sex in The West, a six-part comedy for the ABC set in Sydney’s Arab community.
Troy has worked for eOne since 2011 when it acquired Hopscotch, where she was partner and managing director of home entertainment. Working in acquisitions across film and television she built a catalogue of titles that included the documentary Amy, and TV series Peaky Blinders, Catastrophe, The Inbetweeners and The Slap. She was an EP on Eddie Martin documentary All This Mayhem.
In 2015, she moved into TV development and production, and has co-produced Stan’s The Other Guy with Aquarius Films, which recently sold to Hulu in the USA and Super Channel in Canada. Troy has also worked to develop projects with writers such as Emily Ballou (Taboo, Humans, The Slap), Giula Sandler (Glitch, Devil’s Playground), and John Collee (Master & Commander, Happy Feet). She also optioned Emily Maguire’s critically acclaimed novel, An Isolated Incident, shortlisted for the 2017 Miles Franklin Award and Stella Prize.
Of her departure Troy said: “I am excited about this next chapter in my career. eOne and Hopscotch always fostered an entrepreneurial spirit and afforded me such a fantastic opportunity to hone my craft and expand my networks, enabling me to take this step. Throughout my 15-year tenure I have met and worked with so many incredible and talented people that have mentored and supported me along the way, and I’m looking forward to continuing those relationships in the future.”
Sydney based development executive Alice McCredie-Dando, who worked under Troy, will also depart eOne at the end of June.
