Last call for #Tropvine entries

PRESS RELEASE

Budding filmmakers and creatives listen up: 6 seconds could be all what stands between you and global recognition. #TROPVINE, the lovechild of the world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest, and Twitter’s short video app, Vine, is calling for entrants to submit their 6 second Vine films now! But hurry: #TROPVINE entries close 31 July.
Be in it to win it: entrants need to make an original Vine film, using this year’s TSI (Tropfest Signature Item) ‘CARD’, and Tweet it to @TROPFEST using the competition hashtags #TROPVINE and #card. Winners take home a cash prize of $5,000, a Nikon camera pack, a year of Spotify premium PLUS a VIP trip to Sydney for Tropfest Australia 2015 this December, including Qantas flights to Sydney and accommodation at hip designer hotel QT Sydney.

Vines have already started pouring and we’ve highlighted ten films that showcase the creative vine vibe. So if the chilly weather is affecting your creativity, check out these awesome entries to pique your inspiration:

Belgian Sammy Slabbinck (@sammyslabbinck) has entered twice, with a peepshow in Pinup Postcards (link), whilst getting nostalgic in Love getting postcards! (link)

Jeremy Cassar’s (@jeremycassar) entry Don’t Blink (link) embodies the saying “blink and you’ll miss it” (and it’s like the ultra-condensed version of Boyhood).

Magic is a strong theme: Talin D (@talindee) gets a very special credit card (link); whilst Aussie teen (@DaveHukka) Dave Hukka makes a bad magician in Card trick gone wrong! (link)

Daniel Lawrie’s (@DanielLawrie14) two entries look at the niftiest card in the deck (link) and a card trick that’d be handy at the casino tables (link)

British expat Nish (@NishVeer11) knows how to make a card game positively explosive (link)

Ale Hoffiz’s Grow (@ale_hoffiz) looks at the cycle of forestry is a stop-motion masterpiece that sort-of has a cameo by Amy Schumer (link). And finally Hayatto (@hayatto_n) produced Card-Men, which is basically Mad Men in 6 seconds and if they were 6 cm tall (link);

Stimulated? Inspired? Good! Get vining now!

The 2015 finalists will be screened live at the #TROPVINE Festival Night at The X Studio, Sydney on 12 August, with the winner announced at the end of the night by The Tropfest Jury. Finalists will be able to mingle with social-media mega-dude Jason Mante, Head of User Experience for Vine. That’s a pretty big deal.
