Liz Ross announced as Freeview’s new GM

Press release from Freeview

Freeview Chairman Kim Dalton today announced that the organisation has appointed Fairfax Trade Marketing & Insights Director Liz Ross as its new General Manager, following an extensive search.

Robin Parkes, who joined Freeview as its inaugural CEO in November 2008, recently announced her resignation.

“Liz was the stand-out candidate with strong marketing and strategic skills and experience to take Freeview to its next step. I look forward to working alongside Liz as we continue in the success of Freeview,” Kim Dalton said.

“After three successful years at Freeview, Robin feels it is time to seek a new challenge. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding job Robin has done in taking Freeview from an idea and an aspiration to the established and acknowledged consumer and industry brand and operation that it is today. The strength and success of the free-to-air platform today is in part as a result of Robin’s work with Freeview. Robin has made an immense contribution to changing the television landscape in Australia forever.”

Liz Ross has enjoyed a 30 year career in media and has been with Fairfax Media as Trade Marketing & Insights Director for the past six years. Prior to Fairfax, Ross spent six years at News Ltd as Integration Director and also Media Marketing Manager.

Before moving into publishing, Ross spent several years in media and creative agencies, including Media Director at Bray Media, Media Manager at AIS Media, plus media strategy and planner roles at Mitchell & Partners, Leo Burnett (London) and Shipley & Ryan.

Ross will commence as General Manager in October.
