Mad Max: Fury Road.
George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road has collected 10 Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.
This is the most nominations ever for an Australian film.
Despite breaking the Aussie record it was still only the second most nominated film overall this year.
Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant took that mantle and will provide stiff competition for the road rage epic come awards night.
Cate Blanchett has also been nominated for best actress in leading role for her potrayal of a housewife who is threatened with losing custody of her daughter because of a relationship with another woman in Carol.
Mad Max: Fury Road surpassed Moulin Rouge's previous record haul of eight nominations, of which it won for costume design and set decoration.
Miller won the animated feature film Oscar for Happy Feet in 2007.
