Mandy Walker to Receive Kodak Vision Award

Mandy Walker, ACS will receive the KODAK Vision Award for cinematography when Women In Film celebrate the Crystal+Lucy Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on June 17th.

The award, inaugurated and sponsored by Kodak, recognises the important role of female cinematographers in the collaborative art of filmmaking.

“Mandy Walker, ACS is a tremendous talent,” says Michael Morelli, Vice President and Worldwide General Manager for Kodak’s Entertainment Imaging Division. “This recognition is well-earned by her impressive and eclectic body of work.”

Walker recently completed production of Australia, an epic 20th Century-Fox film, set in Australia during World War II and featuring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman in leading roles. Other notable feature credits include Love Serenade, Walk the Talk, Lantana, Australian Rules and Shattered Glass.

Born and raised in Australia, Walker, a dedicated movie fan, decided to become a cinematographer during her early teens. After completing a film studies program, she quickly worked her way up through the ranks of the camera crew system and earned her first cinematography credit at the age of 25. Her diverse body of work includes documentaries, music videos and television commercials.

“Filmmaking is a universal art form just like the paintings I saw in the galleries that my mother took me to when I was a child,” Walker says. “I think it is really important for people to see films and stories from around the world. I believe they can affect how we feel on an emotional level about people and issues.”
The previous recipients of the KODAK Vision Award include Amelia Vincent, ASC, Sandi Sissel, ASC, Nancy Schreiber, ASC, Lisa Rinzler, ASC, Tami Reiker, ASC, Ellen Kuras, ASC, Pauline Heaton, CSC, Roxanne diSanto, Carolyn Chen, Uta Briesewitz and Maryse Alberti.
