Manhattan Short Film Festival launches

Press release from The Lantern Group

Now in its 12th year, the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival will give Sydney film buffs the chance to see 10 Films from 10 different countries as audiences around the world unite for a week of cultural exchange.

Home grown Aussie film Push Bike is among the contenders.

MANHATTAN SHORT is the world's first Global Film Festival, which takes place in over 200 cities across 6 continents during one week. And best of all, audiences can take part in the judging process by voting for their favourite short!

MANHATTAN SHORT was created by Aussie Nicholas Mason, who left Sydney for the big apple 12 years ago to cut his acting/directing teeth. While immersed in Manhattan’s renowned downtown arts scene, Mason screened a series of Short Films onto the side of a delivery truck on Mulberry Street in Soho.

With local support on his side and audiences flying in for the shorts, Mason’s small art-house project morphed into a global phenomenon over a relatively short period of time. “Seeing this festival now taking place in over two hundred cities across six continents in one week is astounding”, said Manhattan Short director Nicholas Mason. “This year there are ten shorts from ten separate countries and they will unite an audience of over one hundred thousand people across six continents in one week ” said Mason.

Experience the buzz at 6:30pm sharp for the screening and audience voting. Afterwards there will be entertainment and refreshments in the foyer and for the party-lovers among you, there will be a Manhattan Short afterparty at Beach Haus, Kings Cross – see you there!
