Maya the Bee movie announced at Flying Bark Productions

International hit property Maya the Bee is coming to Australia in the form of an animated theatrical release.

Managing Director of Flying Bark Productions, Jim Ballantine, today made the announcement of the 3D stereoscopic film at a special afternoon reception held for His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium. .

“It is an absolute honour to announce the Maya the Bee movie during the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium to our Flying Bark Productions studios. Maya the Bee has become a much-loved and revered character throughout Europe, the US and Asia, entertaining television audiences with her joyful spirit for over 35 years so we are thrilled to be going into production on Maya’s highly anticipated film debut,” said Ballantine.
The program will follow Maya and her wish for adventure and freedom outside the heavily regimented existence of the hive.

The original Maya the Bee television series was first produced in the 1970s and was an imaginative blend of fun-filled and thrilling adventures that gained Maya loyal fans from all corners of the globe.

It remains popular to this day, as a new generation of fans enjoy Maya’s adventures via a 3D HD television series seen in European countries.

As the first ever animated feature to be produced as an official treaty co-production between Australia and Germany, Maya the Bee will see the fusion and collaboration of outstanding Australian and European talent.
