Mebourne’s first open-air rooftop cinema set to open

Melbourne's first open-air rooftop cinema is set to open on November 12 with the latest instalment in the James Bond series, Spectre.

The 100-seat Hawthorn venue will give cinemagoers the option of plonking themselves down on a bean bag or chilling back in a deck chair to watch latest film on a Dolby screen.

The rooftop cinema sits atop the existing cinema downstairs and overlooks the suburbs of Hawthorn.

The existing cinema, which launched three months ago, will give the new rooftop cinema access to first release films.

Cinemagoers will also be surrounded by native Australian flowerbeds and have access to food, wines, beers and cocktails on the Rooftop menu.

"Melburnians have always had a love of rooftops," Lido cinema owner, Eddie Tamir said.

"There’s something about a fabulous view while enjoying quality food and drink, which make it a great place to spend summer days and nights. We have such a stunning view here that it was a natural decision to launch a rooftop screen.”
