Melbourne WebFest 2015 program announced

PRESS RELEASE

Melbourne WebFest, Australia’s first and only international web series festival, has announced the program for its third edition. The festival received more than 200 entries from 20 countries and the 2015 Official Selection consists of 51 series, including 23 Australian series.

Festival Director Steinar Ellingsen commented, “We received a record number of submissions again this year, and have been blown away by the quality of the work we have received from all corners of the world. Our festival keeps on growing steadily, every year it’s a giant leap forward.”
"With all events now taking places in central locations, we’ve further expanded our program with more high quality screenings and more professional workshops. We’re looking forward to welcoming international, interstate and local guests and content creators to the third edition of Melbourne WebFest in July.”
Official Selection Screenings will take place 10-12 July this year at Federation Square’s stunning Deakin Edge.
For the creators, a range of exciting awards are on offer: the Grand Jury Award winner will receive all expenses paid trips to LA WebFest and Marseille WebFest with automatic entry into both festivals, as well as the Rome WebFest, K WebFest and WebFest Montreal. The winner of the iview Award will be offered acquisition to the ABC’s iview platform, a life-changing prospect for digital web series creators who want to see their passion evolve into a career.
The Festival’s Industry Development Day will be hosted by learning partner La Trobe University and will include workshops on digital accessibility, growing your audience (presented in partnership with General Assembly); the creative screenwriter and creating killer pitches for web series.
Opening night will feature a keynote presentation from the Van Vuuren Brothers and Nick Boshier (Soul Mates, Bondi Hipsters) as well as the premiere of Melbourne WebFest Presents.
The Festival’s gala awards night will be hosted for the second year running by Melbourne WebFest alumni Aunty Donna.
