The Future Of Film Festivals In The Digital Age
Join Metro Screen’s Film Festivals Australia initiative in partnership with Sydney Film Festival for this special panel discussion. With the arrival of VOD services like Netflix, the ongoing issue of download piracy and many commercial cinemas operating on an alarmingly low occupancy rate, how can Sydney sustain the 100 or more film festivals currently on offer?

Panel includes:

Mathieu Ravier, director of The Festivalists (the team behind Possible Worlds, Young At Heartand Access All Areas festivals)
Paul Struthers director of the Mardi Gras Film Festival and Queer Screen Film Festival and part of the marketing team at Sydney Film Festival
Mouna Zayla co-director of the Arab Film Festival Australia.

Facilitated by film academic, critic and Golden Age cinema programmer Kate Jinx, the panel will discuss the reasons for the success of the independent festival sector and explore why audiences continue to grow.
