Michelle Lim Davidson and Tess Haubrich will join Sullivan Stapleton, Magda Szubanski and Lincoln Younes in the cast of Nine crime drama After The Verdict, now shooting in Sydney.

Created, written and executive produced by Subtext Pictures’ Ellie Beaumont and Drew Proffitt, the six-parter follows four very different people who have just finished jury duty on a high-profile murder trial. As they return to normal life, they begin to question their verdict and take matters into their own hands, investigating the murder themselves.

Also set to star are Virginia GayEmma Diaz, Richard BrancatisanoNicholas Brown, Hazem Shammas and Vivienne Awosoga.

Joining Beaumont and Proffitt in the creative team are writer Romina Accurso, set up director Peter Salmon, directors Ben C Lucas and Fadia Abboud, producer Jo Rooney and executive producers Greg Sitch and Nine head of drama, Andy Ryan.

Nic Owens is the director of photography, with production design by Virginia Mesiti, costume design by Louise Wakefield and hair and make up design by Jennifer Lamphree. The production is anticipated to create 197 jobs for cast and crew.

“We are excited to be working again with the 9Network to bring another original series to Australian screens. We look forward to collaborating with our super talented cast and creative team to tell the tale of four rogue jurors who go to entertaining extremes to uncover the truth,” Ellie Beaumont said.

After the Verdict was one of two dramas announced for the Nine Network at its upfronts last September, the other being Screentime’s Underbelly: Vanishing Act.

The broadcaster’s Ryan said: “With its outstanding scripts and stellar cast, After The Verdict is a cracking yarn that’s guaranteed to entertain and intrigue audiences of all ages. It’s been a delight to follow its development from pitch to screen, and we can’t wait to share After The Verdict with viewers in Australia and internationally.”

Screen Australia has provided major production investment in association with Screen NSW via the Made in NSW fund. eOne will handle international sales.
