National Geographic Channel appoints new Creative and Marketing Director

Press release from National Geographic Channel Australia

National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerry Butterfield to Creative and Marketing Director of NGCI in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to his existing creative direction of the on-air aspects of National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Adventure, Jerry will now oversee the Creative and Marketing teams in delivering both brands to viewers, on and off-air. Mr Butterfield is now also responsible for presenting the new local Nat Geo Wild Channels in HD and SD in an on and off-air capacity.

First joining NGCI in 2000 as a promo producer, Jerry celebrated his tenth anniversary with NGCI last year. In 2002, he won the first Promax for the channel. Since then, he has garnered Promax awards every single year, as well as accolades for promo campaigns, brand campaigns, print ads, art direction, script writing and directing.

“Jerry has shown unfailing passion and talent over the years and this is not only a recognition of his skill, but also his clear vision for NGCI’s expanding suite of channels. As our operation grows, it’s increasingly important to have an integrated and cohesive approach in our communications, both on and off-air.

Jerry’s appointment will ensure that every single one of our initiatives has a consistent message and execution,” said Karin Simoncini, Managing Director of NGCI Australia and New Zealand.

Of his new role, Mr Butterfield said, “Never before have we had the opportunity to deliver a suite of channels that speaks directly to Australians and New Zealanders. The challenge of presenting truly localised channels that engage and energise viewers is one I’m immensely looking forward to.”

Jerry Butterfield’s appointment is effective immediately.
