New Director of TV for BBC Worldwide

BBC Worldwide Australia has appointed Deirdre Brennan as the Director of Television for its Channels business. She will join the company on August 25.

She will be responsible for production, programming, acquisitions, on-air promotions and presentation for BBC Worldwide's portfolio of channels within Australasia: UKTV and UKTV NZ, BBC Knowledge and CBeebies.

Deirdre has extensive experience in Australian television. She joins BBC Worldwide from Nickelodeon Australia, where she has been Director of Programming since 2007. Under her leadership, the network twice won ASTRA's Channel of the Year (2007,2009). Prior to this, she was ABC Kids Programmer at the national broadcaster.

She has worked in multi-genre acquisitions as a Programming Executive for the ABC, and has also held senior marketing, production and event management roles.

Deirdre began her career as a presenter on community radio and has held a variety of on-air and on-camera roles. She is also a Member of the International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences.

Deirdre replaces Brendan Dahill, who will leave BBC Worldwide on August 5.
