NIDA has appointed television executive Hugh Baldwin as director of partnerships and engagement.

He joins the institute after two years at  Flying Bark’s production arm, After Bark, where he was executive producer of development.

Baldwin was previously an executive producer at sport-focused creative agency and production house, PostMatch, and served as a private consultant for companies in the technology space.

Before that, he spent 15 years leading the content and programming strategy for Nickelodeon in Australia and New Zealand and was head of programming for MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Spike, and 10Shake Kids under the Paramount banner.  The writer, producer, and journalist was also a board member of Screen Tasmania for almost 10 years and a NIDA BFA Acting alumnus from the class of 1992.

In his new role, he will head up NIDA’s ongoing connection with industry, alumni, and the screen and creative sectors, supporting government engagement and raising NIDA’s profile both locally and internationally.

Baldwin said he had always been truly grateful to have been a NIDA graduate.

“I have experienced all aspects of the industry throughout my career and built a lot of great relationships, so I’m very happy to be able to have the opportunity to walk back through the doors of NIDA to take on this role,” he said.

NIDA CEO Liz Hughes said she was pleased to welcome Baldwin into what was a “critical” role.

“Deepening the engagement with our valued key partners is at the heart of our industry-relevant training,” she said.

“Hugh brings a wealth of industry experience across the screen and performing arts sectors, brand-building expertise, and a thorough knowledge of NIDA’s value to the creative sector.”
