The Nine Network is to produce a studio-based entertainment series which challenges everyday people to transform their lives.
This Time Next Year will follow participants as they try to change their lives over the course of 12 months by, for example, losing weight, finding love or having a child.
The broadcaster acquired the Australian format rights from Britain’s Twofour, which is producing the UK version hosted by Davina McCall for ITV. Nine will produce six 60 minute episodes.
In the UK show, once each person makes his or her pledge, he or she leaves the studio to begin the task. Moments later he or she reappears in the studio, transformed one year later, as McCall reveals how each feat was accomplished.
The deal was announced at Mipcom. In a media release Nine Network director of television Michael Healy said: “This Time Next Year stands out as something we believe will resonate with Australian audiences. We look forward to collaborating with Twofour Group on this great project.”
Twofour CEO Melanie Leach said: “This Time Next Year is a unique format that breaks the traditional production model in order to reveal hit after hit of jaw dropping and highly emotional reveals.”
