Perth film distributor Video Archives to release Australian horror film Jugular.

PRESS RELEASE

Video Archives is the new boutique film sales and distribution company founded by writer of The Black Balloon, Jimmy The Exploder.

Named after the defunct L.A. video store where Quentin Tarantino worked before he was ‘Quentin Tarantino’, Video Archives plans to release a half dozen genre films a year.

The Perth/Brooklyn based company's first acquisition is Fremantle novelist turned director JJ DeCeglie’s debut feature Jugular.

Shot on a shoestring in Melbourne, the film has been likened to Martin Scorcese’s Mean Streets and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion.

Jugular won ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Actor’ at the 2013 Melbourne Underground Film Festival.

Award winner Gregory Pakis plays Jack, whose world spirals into madness and violence after he moves into an apartment formerly occupied by a serial killer.

The Jugular trailer was released this week and it will have its red carpet premiere at The Bakery, Northbridge on March 14.

A film maker Q+A will follow with director JJ DeCeglie and star Gregory Pakis and tickets are available now through http://videoarchiv.es/ and http://www.nowbaking.com.au/.

"Jugular is intriguing and uncomfortable: it's a film about pain, confusion and obsession that makes a virtue of limitation and constraint."
 The Age
"Tense, claustrophobic and genuinely harrowing."
 MonsterFest
"Jugular is a lean, mean, highpowered genre film, a nasty piece of work."
 Crikey
"The future of Australian cinema may have started to get exciting."
