Peter Rowsthorn joins the cast of Perth’s first sitcom

Press release from Muse Bureau

In a major coup, Perth filmmakers Henry Inglis and Aaron McCann have secured Australian comedy veteran, Peter Rowsthorn of Kath & Kim fame to guest star in their 7-part Perth comedy series.

In January, Inglis and McCann beat over 100 national entrants in Movie Extra’s inaugural Webfest, which saw the boys take out the $50,000 prize to produce their own Foxtel comedy series.

Henry & Aaron’s Seven Steps to Superstardom will be Perth’s first sitcom. The quirky series will star Inglis and McCann as two 20-something podcasters as well as James Helm (The Graduate, Three Acts of Murder) as their self-proclaimed producer, ‘Danny Danielson’, who is hell bent on turning the boys into international superstars.

Each episode will see Henry and Aaron follow Danny’s ridiculous advice on how to become famous including hot tips such as ‘Sleep Your Way to the Top’, which will star Rowsthorn.

“I loved the script and I feel very lucky to be involved. It’s great that something like this is being produced in Perth. I’m really looking forward to shooting with Henry and Aaron this week.” said Rowsthorn.

The show’s 18-day shoot commenced last week and Rowsthorn will be shooting his episode with Inglis, McCann and Helm on location in Perth this week before heading to Melbourne to shoot the highly anticipated The Kath & Kim Filum.

Other guest stars include iconic Perth theatre, film and comedy performers Benj D’Addario (The Ugly One,) Werzel Montague (The Big Hoo Ha), Ben Sutton (Diggy Bones, The Big Hoo Ha), Sean Walsh, Liam Graham, Steve Turner, Jules Duncan and Kate Neylon.

The seven episodes will be directed by WA Young Filmmaker of the Year Award winners Antony Webb (Tinglewood), Zak Hilditch (The Actress) and Maziar Lahooti (Good Pretender).

The quirky sitcom will capture the raw energy and approach of Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show: Great Job! with nods to Seinfeld, The Office (UK) and Flight of the Conchords and will take a fresh perspective on popular culture and everyday life by satirising modern day world issues on a suburban scale.
Henry & Aaron’s series will have it’s world premiere on Foxtel’s Movie Extra channel in June 2011.
