Rebel Wilson, Seven seek perfect pooches

The Seven Network has commissioned a dog-styling competition series hosted by Rebel Wilson (Les Norton, Pitch Perfect, The Hustle, Isn’t It Romantic).

Seven Studios will produce Pooch Perfect, an original format that will feature 10 professional dog stylists from around the country as they and their charges take part in a series of themed challenges. A panel of industry judges will determine the winner, who will take home $100,000.

Angus Ross, Seven’s director of network programming, said: “Rebel has a fantastic energy, great timing, the sharpest wit and, like many Australians, she loves dogs. With her passion, humour and insight, she’s a great host for this entertaining and heart-warming series.”

Wilson added: “My childhood was full of weekend adventures at dog shows all around Australia and my family had a business selling pet products out of a caravan, such as leads, treats and the best dog styling equipment available.

“This show is going to be a ton of fun and showcase some amazing dogs and dog lovers. Technically I’m allergic to dogs, though… so hopefully they can edit around my sneezing.”

Currently in pre-production, Pooch Perfect will premiere on Seven in 2020. Seven Studios is confident the format will travel internationally.

Last month Amazon Prime Video announced Wilson would host and executive produce its first Australian original series, LOL: Last One Laughing, a six-part comedy/variety show produced by Endemol Shine Australia
