Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan Cast in Anton Corbijn’s ‘Life’

PRESS RELEASE

New York, NY: Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga, Cosmopolis) and Dane DeHaan (Kill Your Darlings, Lawless, The Place Beyond The Pines) will star as renowned Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and Hollywood legend James Dean in Anton Corbijn’s (Control) next feature film LIFE.

Inspired by a true story, LIFE charts the friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for Life magazine in 1955.

Stock was 26, old before his time, and already tied down to family life. Into his buttoneddown world came fledgling star James Dean, a free spirit who would change popular culture from suits to jeans and from matinee idols to teenage heartthrobs. The assignment, which took the pair on a road trip around the US, would change Stock’s life and provide the world with some of the most iconic images of the age.

LIFE is being produced by See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning and Emile Sherman with Christina Piovesan of First Generation Films from a script by Luke Davies (Candy).

Filming will start production in February 2014 on location in Canada.

See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning and Emile Sherman say, “As an internationally celebrated photographer, Anton Corbijn is the perfect filmmaker to direct LIFE. Finding the right actor to play James Dean was a big responsibility, but Dane’s body of work has proved what a chameleon he is and what he will contribute to the role. Casting Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan brings together two of the most exciting young actors of their generation.”

Robert Pattinson is best known for his portrayal of the vampire Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. Most recently, Pattinson appeared on screen in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis and later this year can be seen in David Michôd’s The Rover, in which he’s paired with Guy Pearce. He is currently shooting Cronenberg’s next film, Maps To The Stars with Mia Wasikowska, Julianne Moore & John Cusack.

Dane DeHaan was introduced to film audiences in the Sci-Fi, thriller Chronicle. DeHaan recently starred in Derek Cianfrance' acclaimed drama, The Place Beyond the Pines and starred in the film Lawless that same year. DeHaan recently completed production on the independent, dark comedy Life after Beth and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Harry Osborn which will be released in May 2014. DeHaan will next be seen in Atom Egoyans' independent film, The Devils Knot, Metallica Through the Never, and the drama, Kill Your Darlings.

LIFE is a See-Saw Films and First Generation Films production. Transmission Films will distribute the film locally, with international sales being handled by FilmNation.
