SAFC launches uncapped, non-discretionary PDV rebate

The South Australian Film Corporation has launched a new 10 per cent post-production, digital and visual effects rebate in a bid to attract more large budget and international productions.

The new rebate is uncapped and non-discretionary for productions that meet the guidelines and replaces SAFC’s previous grant that was limited to $150k per production. It can be combined with the 30 per cent federal PDV Offset.

Set to benefit from the scheme are Adelaide’s Rising Sun Pictures, known for their work on the Harry Potter and X-Men franchises, and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King; Kojo, which recently worked on Hotel Mumbai, Storm Boy, The Nightingale, and Stan’s Wolf Creek, and emerging television CGI firm Resin (Philip K Dick’s: Electric Dreams).

Acting CEO of the SAFC Adam Smith said: ‘This rebate will benefit the broader South Australian screen sector by significantly increasing the state’s overall investment in supporting local, national and international production activity in the state and resulting job creation.’

Applications for the new PDV rebate will open from 1 January, 2018.
