Sigrid Thornton to attend CinfestOZ premiere of Face to Face

Press release from Cinefest

CinéfestOZ Film Festival 2011 is pleased to announce that it will host the Western Australian premiere of the multi award winning Australian film Face to Face on Friday 26 August.

In its fourth year, CinéfestOZ (24 – 28 August 2011) showcases the best of Australian and French independent film against a stunning south-west backdrop.

Face to Face features a stellar ensemble cast led by Vince Colosimo (Lantana, Daybreakers), Sigrid Thornton (The Man From Snowy River) and Luke Ford (The Black Balloon, Kokoda, Animal Kingdom).

Adapted and directed by Michael Rymer (Angel Baby, Queen of the Damned, In Too Deep), Face to Face is based on the play of the same name by Australia’s leading playwright and screenwriter, David Williamson. It tells a story of ten Australians from diverse backgrounds sitting down to determine the fate of a violent young man.

Rymer will attend the Busselton premiere with producers Leanne Hadley and Gabrielle Christopher, all of whom will join guests for pre-screening drinks and host a post-screening Q&A session as part of the festival. Actress Sigrid Thornton is also expected to attend.

According to CinéfestOZ vice-chairman and film programmer Helen Shervington, the film is an intriguing drama that is tightly scripted and superbly acted.

“We are very excited to have Face to Face on our program. It has a fluidity and subject matter that is sure to appeal to a wide audience. I think filmgoers will also enjoy hearing about the making of this film, which was shot in Melbourne over a mere twelve days,” she said.

The film has garnered a swag of awards including winner for Best Movie at the 2011 Monaco Film Festival and winner of the Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema at the 2011 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Face to Face will premiere on Friday 26 August at Orana Cinemas, Busselton.

Tickets are $40 and include the Director's Q&A and access to the after party at ARtGEo Gallery – Queen Street, Busselton.
