Sony marketing maven to depart

Libby Rhys-Jones is departing Sony Pictures Releasing after 10 years as national marketing director.

The former Roadshow exec is reinstating her marketing and distribution consultancy which she originally set up in 2000.

“It’s a big decision after what was meant to be a 6 month contract that turned into 10 years,” she tells IF.

The consultancy will provide a full range of marketing strategy and implentation services to film distributors, television networks, production companies, exhibitors and telcos that provide entertainment content.

Sony’s current and recent slate includes Spectre, Hotel Transylvania 2, Pixels, The Lobster, The Walk, Ricki and the Flash and Insidious: Chapter 3.

Her replacement at Sony is yet to be named.
