Stan lands ABC Commercial

Stan today announced a licensing agreement with ABC Commercial that will bring an extensive range of Australian-made productions to the launch lineup of the new subscription video-on-demand service.

The multi-year agreement with the commercial arm of the ABC brings the best of ABC comedy, drama, factual and children’s programming to Stan, offering something for everyone within Stan’s low monthly price.

Stan’s members will be able to enjoy back-to-back episodes of Chris Lilley’s multi-award- winning series including Summer Heights High and Ja’mie Private School Girl as well as a range of other Australian comedy series, including Upper Middle Bogan, It’s a Date and The Moodys.

The lineup includes such quality Australian dramas as AACTA and Logie Award-winning Rake starring Richard Roxburgh, AACTA and Logie Award-winning Redfern Now, the crime series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, and favourites Jack Irish and Janet King.

Also included in the programming suite are key factual programs such as Whitlam: The Power and the Passion, Wide Open Road and Gallipoli From Above.

Australian families will welcome the addition of hundreds of hours of children’s programming, including The Wiggles, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Guess How Much I Love You and Justine Clarke. Other children’s favourites include Octonauts, Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, Thomas and Friends, Fireman Sam, Sesame Street and Mister Maker.

In announcing the deal today, Nick Forward, Stan’s Director of Content and Product, said: “We’re very proud to support Australian-made productions and offer Stan’s members a wide range of programming that can be viewed whenever and wherever they want. Our partnership with ABC Commercial shows a continued commitment to investing in Australian content.”

The deal with ABC Commercial will bring programs from a wide array of Australian production companies to Stan, including Australian Broadcasting Corporation, ACTF, The Australian Ballet, Blackfella Films, Essential Media & Entertainment, Every Cloud Productions, Goalpost Pictures, Gristmill, High Wire Films, Hoodlum, Jungle Boys, Matchbox Pictures and Screentime.

Robert Patterson, Director ABC Commercial, said: “ABC Commercial is pleased to partner with Stan at launch, offering a wide variety of Australian content to the new streaming service. The agreement creates new licensing revenues which can then be reinvested into the production of ABC content and programming.”

Titles will be available to watch instantly and, when available, in full HD on multiple platforms including television, tablets, computers and mobile phones.
