Belgian-owned media group Studio 100 has promoted Flying Bark Productions MD Barbara Stephen to CEO of content, Studio 100 International.

In the newly created role Stephen oversees all development, investment and animation production across the creative businesses including Studio 100 Animation (Paris), Studio Isar Animation (Munich), Little Airplane Productions (New York) and Flying Bark Productions.

In addition, Alexia Gates-Foale has been upped to head of animation production at Flying Bark, whose credits include Maya the Bee Movie, Erky Perky, Magical Tales, The Adventures of Figaro Pho and The Woodlies.

Hans Bourlon, CEO of Studio 100 Group, said: “We absolutely trust in Barbara to lead our content and production teams across the globe. The board and I are very optimistic about the future, while being grateful for the hard work of our staff and what was achieved so far. “

Stephen, who continues as MD of Flying Bark, said: “Flying Bark has worked hard to develop a strong culture of creativity and inclusiveness with a focus on delivering world-class content across hand-drawn 2D and CGI character animation.

“Alexia has been pivotal in shaping the modern studio and will continue to provide strong leadership and creative vision for our future direction.”

Stephen joined the company, which has been a part of the Studio 100 group since 2007, in 2012 and was appointed MD in 2014.

Gates-Foale’s production credits include Erky Perky, Zeke’s Pad, The Woodlies, The Adventures of Figaro Pho, Maya the Bee Movie, Blinky Bill: The Movie and the AACTA nominated series The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill.

Currently Alexia and Barbara are producing 100% Wolf , the movie adapted by Fin Edquist from Jayne Lyon’s book of the same name, and the spin-off series in co-production with the ABC and Germany’s Super RTL.

Alexs Stadermann directed the movie. The 26 x 22′ series revolves around 11-year-old Freddy Lupin, who is set to turn into a werewolf, like everyone else in his family, but instead morphs into a ferocious poodle.

Studio 100 has been developing a virtual reality service designed to re-invent CGI animation pipelines using real-time technologies that it said would reduce the overall cost per minute of animation at its Paris studio.
