Karl Malakunas’ eco documentary Delikado received a special mention and there were historic wins for Indonesia, Jordan, Armenia, Cambodia, and Pakistan as the 15th Asia Pacific Screen Awards were announced on the Gold Coast this evening.
Sydney Film Festival director and acting CEO Nashen Moodley hopes a program of "big emotions" will help cinemas continue to build momentum post-lockdown, with the full line-up for the 2022 event unveiled on Wednesday.
"[Multicultural filmmakers] will have an idea that is really authentic and true to themselves but by the time they put it down on paper, they’re already starting to think about how a white panel will judge this story, as well as whether it will appeal to them and whether they will emotionally connect."
