tenplay app hits one million downloads

Network Ten’s industry-leading digital platform tenplay has proved a hit with Australians, with more than one million downloads of its mobile devices app.

Available on Android, iOS, Windows 8 phones and tablets, the tenplay mobile app has reached the one million milestone less than a year after it launched in late September 2013.

The tenplay platform – which is available for free across web, mobile, tablets and smart TVs – gives people access to Network Ten’s catch-up video platform and unique live streaming experiences.

Strong demand for catch-up and live-streamed sport broadcasts saw the app’s download figure soar during Network’s Ten’s coverage of the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, during late July and early August.

More than 100,000 people downloaded the tenplay app during the 11-day sporting event, giving them access to exclusive content and 24-hour coverage across eight digital channels.

Network Ten Chief Digital Officer, Rebekah Horne, said: “We are thrilled at the outstanding success of tenplay. Reaching one million downloads of the mobile app is an incredible landmark for us. And that numbers excludes smart TVs and our partnership with Xbox.

“The app has been a fantastic success from its launch and is a great demonstration of our strategy to bring Network Ten’s content to people anywhere, any time and on any device.

“The online coverage of the XX Commonwealth Games proved a sensation for tenplay and allowed viewers to watch their favourite events and athletes anywhere and at any time for free, never missing a moment of the action,” she said.

Hundreds of thousands additional downloads of tenplay across smart TVs, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms mean more and more users are enjoying access to Network Ten on connected devices.

The number of video views of Network Ten content has surged by more than 56% since tenplay was launched, while the number of page views has jumped over 60%.
