UK streaming deal for ‘Bad Mothers’

‘Bad Mothers.’

My5, the UK streaming service owned by Viacom’s Channel 5, has secured the rights to Bad Mothers.

The Nine Network/TVNZ comedy/drama from Jungle Entertainment and Filthy Productions will premiere on the platform next month.

The free, advertiser-supported service is showing a growing appetite for Australian drama, having recently acquired Playmaker Media’s Bloom from Sony Pictures Television and Clandestine Beyond’s Pulse from ABC Commercial.

Red Arrow Studios International negotiated the Bad Mothers UK deal after selling the series to Fox’s Middle East and North Africa arm, Fox Networks Middle East and Universal TV in Africa.

Created by Filthy Productions’ Gavin Strawhan and Rachel Lang and produced by Jungle’s Chloe Rickard and Filthy Productions’ Steven Zanoski, the show stars Tess Haubrich, Melissa George, Mandy McElhinney, Shalom Brune-Franklin and Daniel MacPherson.

Oliver Thomas, VP of digital at Viacom International Media Networks UK, said: “We know our audience loves a good drama and Bad Mothers will be a great addition to My5 as we continue to expand our scripted offering on the platform.”

Red Arrows International president Bo Stehmeier added: “Bad Mothers is a sexy, glossy, funny drama that has performed very well for Nine in Australia.”
