Australian-born, US-based Yvonne Strahovski will play the co-lead opposite Noomi Rapace in Kim Farrant’s psychological thriller Angel of Mine.

Adapted by Lion’s Luke Davies and David Regal from the 2008 French film L’Empreinte de L’Ange, the film will follow Rapace as Lizzie, a woman who is struggling to cope with the loss of her daughter and becomes convinced a stranger’s daughter is her own.

As her obsession grows, she becomes more and more entwined in the girl’s life and loses touch with reality.

Strahovski, who stars in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, will play Claire, the stranger. It will be her first role in an Australian production since I, Frankenstein in 2014.

She played Rene Carpenter in the US ABC series The Astronaut Wives Club and she stars in Shane Black’s The Predator, a sequel to the 1987 sci-fi film Predator, which Fox will release in September.

Farrant’s follow-up to Strangerland, Angel of Mine will start shooting in Melbourne next month, produced by SixtyFourSixty’s Su Armstrong and Garlin Pictures’ Brian Etting and Josh Etting.

Screen Australia and Film Victoria provided production investment. The Becker Film Group will distribute in Australia/New Zealand and Fortitude International is handling international sales.
